Cyclones are one of Australia's more predominant hazards. A hazard, being different to a disaster, as an event, that if occurred would have the potential to become a disaster, whereas a disaster is an event that is occurring or has already occurred. These pages will describe the formation of a cyclone, and then show the spatial distribution of cyclones around Australia, and also reasons for this.
